The Super-Size and

Industrial-Size Gas Masks

are a protective system

consisting of a facepiece,

breathing tube, harness,

and chemical-sorbent

canister. A large,ovalshaped

aluminum canister

attaches to the facepiece

with a corrugated breathing

tube. The canister is

supported on the wearer’s

chest with a nylon

carrying harness.

a specific gas or group of                            

gases as indicated by

canister identification.

a practical standpoint,

gas masks are generally

suitable for ventilated

areas with relatively stable

contaminant

concentration levels.

They should never be used

in confined spaces or

where oxygen deficiency

and high gaseous concentrations

for escape only from

atmospheres in which

the contaminant concentration

does not exceed the

maximum use condition of

the gas mask.

The Super-Size Gas Masks

have a Window-Cator

Canister, which contains

an indicator to show the

effectiveness of the canister

against certain contaminants.

The small round window in the front of the canister is an end-of-service-life indicator (ESLI).

When the shade of the ESLI changes from its "Starting" color to

the "Time-To-Change" color, the canister is beginning to lose its

effectiveness and must be replaced.
